A Christmas-themed DLC for “Borderlands 2,” “How Marcus Saved Mercenary Day,” will be available on Dec. 17, Gearbox and 2K announced in a press release today obtained by Examiner.

The DLC, which is the third add-on in the game’s Headhunter series, will cost $2.99 and will be available for PC and Mac via Steam, Xbox 360 via Xbox Live Marketplace and PlayStation 3* via PlayStation Network.

The story in this DLC is definitely wacky and ties in wonderfully to the series. After a train of Marcus’ guns goes missing in the snowy town of Gingerton, Marcus enlists the help of some hunters, who find a pissed off snowman by the name of Tinder Snowflake and a ton of baddies they didn’t expect.

“This fight took a lot of extra effort from our animators and visual effect artists to get his movements just right, so we’re really excited for you guys to finally experience it,” Gearbox’s Drew Mobley said on 2K’s official blog today.

The DLC also includes a Santa outfit for Salvador the Gunzerker and an ugly sweater for Krieg the Psycho, as well as a snowman head for your vault hunter.
