Newly appointed State Theatre Board Chairman Douglas M. Garback Sr. has announced the hiring of Arts Consulting Group (ACG) to perform the national search for a new President & CEO, after the passing of Mark. W. Jones in May 2014. ACG is the leading provider of executive searches for the arts and culture industry in the U.S. Garback has also announced the appointment of Warren R. Zimmerman of Piscataway, NJ as the State Theatre’s Interim President & CEO. Zimmerman, who has served as the State Theatre’s Board Chairman since 2010 and a Trustee since 2007, will assume his duties effective on July 7, 2014.

A Board search committee has been formed, led by Trustee Scott Fergang, to assist ACG in the national search.

As Interim President & CEO, Zimmerman has been charged with leading the staff and helping sustain the growth and momentum of the organization while planning for future initiatives. The State Theatre Board Chairman for the last four years, Zimmerman worked very closely with former President Mark W. Jones on the State Theatre’s present and future goals.

Replacing Zimmerman as the Chairman of the Board is State Theatre Trustee and former Vice Chairman Douglas M. Garback Sr. A resident of Manasquan, Garback is the Founder of Prudential - The Garback Agency, based in North Brunswick. Garback, along with his wife Diane, recently chaired the State Theatre’s record-breaking Gala in May 2014. This year’s Gala was the highest-grossing fundraiser in the theater’s 25 year history as a performing arts center, raising over $765,000.

“Warren is a dynamic leader and on behalf of the Board I can say we are thrilled that he has agreed to take on this position as we continue a national search for a new President & CEO,” stated State Theatre Board Chairman Douglas Garback.

“The State Theatre has established itself as a world-class performing arts center experiencing a 33% growth in audience in the last three years, and it is an important economic catalyst for the New Brunswick area,” said Zimmerman. “I will work hard to make sure that we continue on this path of success.”

An avid supporter of the State Theatre Warren R. Zimmerman was been Chairman of the Board for the last four years. At the time of his election, Zimmerman who resides in Piscataway, NJ, was the Assistant Vice President of IT at Chubb & Son Insurance. More recently, Zimmerman comes to the State Theatre from CVS Caremark, where he worked as a Senior Director. Prior to his work with Chubb, Zimmerman owned his own IT firm which did an initial public offering in 1993 and he ran as CEO for nine years.
