When construction ends on the New Britain-to-Hartford bus way there will be many bus routes operating on one route and scheduling and timing of bi-directional routes are going to be a priority.
The present plan is rush hour service every 3 minutes and shuttles between New Britain and Hartford every 12 minutes.
New specially designed buses for the CTFastrak project are being built now for the Busway to open for service in two years and possibly sooner.
Two proposed routes are planned each 12 minutes between Hartford and New Britain and the other to and from Harford and Bristol.
The buses will be 60' articulated hybrid types especially for CTFastrak operation with standard 40' CT Transit buses on local and express routes on and off Bus way to areas not served directly on the Bus way route making the system flexible. Lastly CT Transit plans to operate some smaller buses on circular and connecting routes to main line rail stations, Westfarm Mall, hospitals and colleges, etc.
Proposed service is to operate six days a week from 6 am to midnight with shorter hours on Sunday and holidays.
