Boulder is rich, Denver too. And, by rich we aren’t talking money. I’m talking about the performing arts scene! As someone who lived for many years in a diverse arts community in a big city I was a little uncertain about the dance and theatre scene here in the Front Range area. In Chicago one can find something in the performing arts arena nearly any time of the year, nearly any day of the week. Music, theatre, dance...they have it all. So, when I relocated, I must confess I thought surely I wouldn’t find that kind of richness in a smaller environment where the most prevalent activities are predominantly outdoors. But, here I am writing, once again, about a premiere event set to take place at the Dairy Center for the Arts, a venue that at times seems to be busting at the seams.
And today we are focusing on New Breed Dance Company and their new work, “Love Moves”, which will open to a limited run this weekend!
Under the artistic directorship of Linzee Klinkenberg, New Breed Dance Company will bring to audiences a sensual, athletic and soulful exploration on the journey of love. When one experiences a long term love relationship it is bound to transform, mutate and, in other words, simply change throughout its existence. While using the medium of Jazz dance, “Love Moves” captures the feeling and throws of falling, fighting and maintaining true love. It is human nature to experience lust and hope, disappointment and heartache, and Klinkenberg utilizes movement to embrace the difference between them all. This hour-long, non-stop show, set to Motown, classical, and pop music, moves its audience to dance on into the night.
So, here is your chance, once again, to support local arts! Show those bigger cities that we here in the Front Range not only have the arts, but the audiences as well!!
