Peter M. Madrid M. uses an experimental strategy to write this book of poems.
While many poets use concrete images and focus on a single, central metaphor in his poems, Pedro uses a modernist approach. His poetry is noted for the flow of consciousness where the symbols and images accumulate on each other and poured in all directions; making them layers of symbols. Often images and metaphors seem disconnected. Pedro uses the abstract surrealism to take us on a journey to unexplored sites and give us a cosmic vision of the universe. Pedro uses this cosmic vision to express impersonal anguish in our modern society, and makes it by excluding specific metaphors that connect us to specific realities.
The language used by Pedro is profound, poetic, symbolic, abstract and surreal. His repetition of words leads to the search for Justice in a world of suffering. Pedro uses the assonance and alliteration to create musicality and lyricism that takes us to the dark corners of the unconscious where is not hard to find heroes; It is the dark world of fragmentation, disharmony and dissonance. The dark echoes of the unconscious reflect a psychotic and fragmented society, one that shout from the soul for something different and better, but this soul is so tortured and fragmented that it cannot find any direction.
This portrait of modern society sinking into negativity compels the reader to find his/her way out of this maze of confusing paths. The words of the poet are so eloquent that his mastery of the language is superb and the reader will want to find their lost wings and fly.

About Maria Angelica Brandenburg
Professor of Spanish and Spanish Literature in San Antonio, Texas. She has a master's degree in Spanish language and Literature from the University of San Luis, Madrid-Spain. She studied law in the Inter-American University of Puerto Rico. She graduated from the Faculty of Sociology at the Catholic University in Washington, D.C. and has a secondary certificate as a teacher at the University of Texas,SA.

Pedro M. Madrid M. was born in Caracas,Venezuela. He graduated Cum Laude in Philosophy from the Universidad Católica Andrés Bello, Caracas,Venezuela. He held diplomatic posts in Brazil and China. Pedro M. Madrid M. speaks multiple languages: Spanish, English, Portuguese and Mandarin. He has lived several years in Europe and Asia. He currently lives in Caracas,Venezuela.
Part of speech II (book Las Alas Perdidas/The Lost Wings) was published in the magazine Voices de la Luna, 15 October 2011, volume 4, number 1. Currently, he is preparing the edition of his next poetry collection.
