A new book, “The Rolling Stones Gear,” due out on Oct. 29, will give fans an in-depth look at the musical instruments that have been a part of the group's lengthy history, co-author Andy Babiuk announced on Facebook Sept. 4. The book is co-authored by Babiuk and Greg Prevost, bandmates in the Chesterfield Kings.
Babiuk previously did the same for another group with a previous book, “Beatles Gear” about the musical equipment used by the Beatles that documented the subject in detail. That book received a lot of acclaim from Beatles fans for its detailed coverage of the subject.
"'The Rolling Stones Gear' is the first book to historically document all of the Rolling Stones’ musical equipment. It’s also the story of The Rolling Stones, but with a new twist -- their history as told through the instruments they used,” the author said.
He said the book will cover the group’s personal background and every tour and studio session from their inception in 1962 to date, with detailed documentation illustrating what instruments and equipment were used during these periods. “Every song recorded by the band, including demos and out-takes are also documented, with input from within the Stones’ ranks as well as from people who were involved with the band,” he said.
The book will include never before published photos of the group and their instruments. Some of the equipment pictures were taken especially for the book, Babiuk said.
The book will also be available in England from Amazon.co.uk.
