New book exposes real life WWE feuds with Dwayne Johnson, John Cena

The Rock's WWE return made international headlines earlier this year when the Hollywood mega star came home to the business that made him famous. But on Saturday, a controversial new book detailing The Rock's return and his supposedly real-life feuds was released.

According to details provided in the new book called "The Rock vs. John Cena: The real story behind the WWE rivalry," ever since The Rock wrestled his last match at WrestleMania XX, WWE CEO Vince McMahon is believed to have concocted multiple schemes and business proposals aimed at inspiring The Rock to return on a more regular basis.

Unfortunately for McMahon, sources say, none of the “schemes” worked.

Based on the details highlighted in the book, Vince McMahon at one time wanted a “dream match” for WrestleMania 25 – The Rock vs. Shawn Michaels. If the rumor mill is correct, McMahon personally lobbied The Rock on multiple occasions about working a program with Michaels. Given the charisma of both superstars, McMahon and his creative team at WWE believed the match could rival another dream match that was once envisioned but never executed – Hulk Hogan vs. Steve Austin.

While uncertainty remains as to the validity of John Cena’s real-life feud with The Rock, there is little doubt about the fact that Shawn Michaels – the legendary Heartbreak Kid – and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson enjoyed an anything-but-cordial relationship in the locker room.

The book goes on to detail how Shawn Michaels' retirement may have been necessary to finally coax The Rock back into the ring.

"The Rock vs. John Cena: The real story behind the WWE rivalry," which retails for $4.95, also delves into what current insiders and rumor mongers believe will be the finish to The Rock and John Cena's WrestleMania 28 showdown.
