The new building for the Billings Public Library will open to the public on January 6, 2014. The library closed the doors to its former building, which housed the library for more than forty years, on December 13, 2013. It has been closed to the public for three weeks while the library staff moved into the new building.

The new Billings Public Library is adjacent to the former building, at the intersection of 6th Avenue and Broadway at the north end of downtown Billings. The city plans to tear down the former building and construct a 100-space parking garden. It should be complete by June 2014.

The library will have reduced hours when it opens January 6. It will be open 10 a.m. - 7 p.m. It will return to the normal operating hours the following week on January 13.

The official dedication of the new library building will occur on February 1. In celebration of the new building, the Billings Public Library will be hosting acclaimed authors Michael Berenstain and Neil Gaiman in February.
