There will indeed be another “Batman: Arkham” game, and it will be arriving soon—in 2013, reports Eddie Makuch for Gamespot on Feb. 12.
Warner Bros. confirmed that there will be a third entry in the “Arkham” series, and that the game will launch in 2013. This was part of Time Warner’s latest earnings report, released last week by CFO John Martin. He said, “We…have a strong games release this year, which will include the next release in the ‘Batman Arkham’ franchise. So all in all, we expect Warners to post another very strong year in 2013. And with a little luck, the year should be as good or maybe even a little bit better than 2012.”
In addition, Rocksteady studios—the developers of the previous two “Arkham” games—will not be helping with this new installment. That house is rumored to be working on a stylized prequel, that will show the Dark Knight’s first encounter with the Joker. This game, if it exists, is not expected until 2014 at its earliest.
“Warner Bros. last month registered 15 new Batman domain names,” Makuch writes, “including Arkham Universe, Arkham Legend, Arkham Origins, Arkham Rises, and others.”
The latest addition to the series, “Batman: Arkham City,” was released on Oct. 18, 2011. It was released to rave reviews and huge profit, selling 6 million copies, and has since been labeled as one of the best games of 2011, as well as the last several years.
