New 'Assassin's Creed' coming fiscal 2014, possible release on Xbox 720 and PS4 (Photos)

With the release of “Assassin's Creed 3,” Ubisoft introduced us to a new protagonist and new time period for the “Assassin's Creed” franchise. According to statement fulfilled by Ubisoft CEO Yves Gullemot yesterday, via Joystiq, it has been confirmed that a new “Assassin's Creed” title will be launching in fiscal year 2014. With the approaching release of next generation systems, the PS4 and Xbox 720, it may be possible that this installment to the “Assassin's Creed” series will appear on these systems.

With the announcement of the next installment to the “Assassin's Creed” franchise, it has been announced that this installment will introduce a brand-new protagonist to “Assassin's Creed,” as well as being set in a new time period. "In financial 2014, we will introduce an all-new Assassin's Creed hero, within an all-new team and time period, and we expect it to be another major leap forward for the franchise. It is the benefit of multiple teams, working on multiple chapters of the brand, each getting several years to make their versions of an Assassin's Creed game."

Moving on from Connor and the American Revolution, it should be interesting to see where Ubisoft takes us with this installment to the “Assassin's Creed” franchise. It will also be interesting to see if this title releases on to the next generation of consoles from Sony and Microsoft, the PS4 and Xbox 720.
