New Artie Lange photo shows healthier, happier comedian

It looks like time away from the spotlight suits Artie Lange.

A picture of the former Howard Stern Show co-host popped up on Twitter Saturday, featuring Artie Lange looking grayer, thinner and, just quite possibly, genuinely happy.

The Artie Lange tribute site SaveBabyGorilla tweeted the photo after comedian Jimmy Palumbo, who worked with Lange in 'Beer League', posted it to his Facebook page. Palumbo and three police officiers are also pictured in the photo, taken at an unknown location.

Howard Stern Show fans have been clamoring for any news of Lange since he left the show on medical leave in December 2009 and attempted suicide a few weeks later. News on his recovery and future career plans has ranged from sparse to non-existent.

HSS producer Gary "Baba Booey" Dell'Abate told listeners in late 2010 that Lange had expressed an interest in returning to the air to tell his story. Howard Stern put the proposal on hold indefinitely, fearing that the appearance could interfere with Lange's recovery.

In a recent interview with SplitSider.com, comedian and friend of Artie Lange's Norm MacDonald said that Lange should "stay away from show business for a while" and called fans who revere his addiction related comedy "enablers".

Whatever Artie Lange's been doing, it looks like it's working. The "FIYAAAAAAAAAAAA!" isn't going out any time soon.
