The first downloadable DLC offering will be "Initiation," which will move the game's setting to Asia for more on the Dark Knight's origin story. This will be the first time in the series' history Batman will go outside Gotham City, and will be the earliest playable sequence in the series' canon.
"You play as Bruce Wayne learning to be a ninja," Voghel said. "That's a really cool one. Narratively there's some added content that will give players a little more background story."
The Initiation add-on will offer a chance to play as Bruce Wayne before he donned the cape and cowl, as he attempts to prove himself worthy to Kirigi, the ninja who trained the immortal Ra's al Ghul's League of Assassins. But Voghel said this side mission will not feature the League, but will instead be ninja-focused.
"It's when he learned to be a ninja and learned those techniques," Voghel said. "He goes to a monastery -- custom content was created for the DLC. You'll be in Asia in the monastery. The team did a great job on that, it looks really good."
In addition, Voghel detailed the game's I Am the Night mode, which will be available after completion of the main game and New Game Plus. Named after Batman's famous saying, "I am vengeance. I am the night. I am Batman," the new playthrough offers the most difficult challenge yet.
"The main narrative arc and side missions last about 12 hours," Voghel said, "and then you have all the collectibles. To get 100 percent of that will take much, much longer. We have a new difficulty level, New Game Plus is coming pack -- that's really difficult -- and when you're done with that there's I Am The Night mode -- which is no saves and one life."
