Did that headline catch your interest? For more than 30 days in a row the cost of gas has increased. The weekly trip to the gas pump doesn't make a dent in our wallet, it empties it.
To offset the continually price increases, one company has introduced a new program called SmartPay. At gas and convenience store retailer Cumberland Farm, this money saving program can save consumers 10 cents on every gallon of gas, every day.
Here's how the program works.
- Register for free at cumberlandfarms.com/smartpay to link to your checking account.
- Then either downloads the SmartPay app for free to your iPhone or Android – or, if you still rock a flip-phone, you can pick up a plastic SmartPay card at participating Cumberland Farms/Gulf locations.
- To fill up your tank, simply enter your pump number into the mobile app, which will automatically turn on the pump and withdraw the appropriate amount from your checking account. No cash, coins, or credit cards needed.
- You'll save 10 cents on every gallon of gas every time you use SmartPay, and the app even includes a rolling-dial display showing your lifetime savings.
