"Tyrant" is an American drama series that tells the story of Bassam "Barry" Al Fayeed, who is from a war-torn country and has lived in exile in the L.A. area for almost 20 years. He is the youngest son of a dictator, and has to return to his home country with his American family to attend a relative's wedding. His return causes a severe clash in both familial and national politics.

The series takes place in the wake of a global "Rapture" and revolves around the mysterious disappearances of people world-wide, but specifically focuses on the group of people who are left behind in the suburban community of Mapleton.
