New American Home 2014 unveiled in Las Vegas

The New American Home for 2014 was unveiled this week in the Sky Terrace development in Henderson. Each year the New American Home is constructed in conjunction with the NAHB International Builders’ Show, to cast a light on innovative construction technologies and building products. The 6,700-square-foot home was designed by architect Jeff Berkus of Aspen-based Jeffrey Berkus Associates, built by Element Building Company and interiors led by Marc Thee and team at Marc-Michaels Interior Design.

The home is oriented on to make the most of natural sunlight while minimizing solar heat gain, highlighting spectacular views of the Las Vegas Strip. The home includes many features of energy efficiency and sustainability including a plaster-like material that helps control wall temperature and roof solar panels that supply 83 percent of the homes energy. The home is expected to achieve Emerald status under the National Green Building Standard.

The home was designed as a multi-generational home, including both a guest suite and a casita. The floorplan also includes areas that are both indoor and outdoor living spaces, creating a natural flow. To view a virtual tour of the 2014 New American Home, visit newamericanhome2014.com.
