The New Albany-Plain Local Schools superintendent, board of education members, donors and volunteers will join U.S. military veterans at a dedication ceremony for the newly built high school football stadium, Veterans Field, at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30, at New Albany High School, 7600 Fodor Road, New Albany, Ohio 43054.
The American Flag being flown at Veterans Field was presented to the school earlier this year by members of the Ohio Army National Guard’s Police Advisor Team 1, 174th Air Defense Artillery Brigade. The flag was flown in Afghanistan during the unit’s yearlong deployment.
Additional military program elements to the night’s activities include: Col. Chip Tansill, Ohio Army National Guard chief of staff, officiating the pregame coin toss; members of the 285th Medical Company presenting the colors during the national anthem; and Soldiers from the 437th Military Police Battalion displaying a M1117 Armored Security Vehicle beside an Army Guard recruiting booth.
The public is invited to stay for New Albany’s game against Reynoldsburg following the ceremony. Veterans will receive free admission to the game through a special entrance near the main gate, located off Fodor Road.
