A new batch of $100 bills are on their way and some of these new bills can be worth up to $15,000 to the many collectors out there. Collectors will pay much more than the face value for some of the new $100 bills, depending on their serial numbers. In some cases one of the new bills could fetch up to $15,000 for the low serial numbers in this batch, according to “Fox and Friends” live on Tuesday Sept. 25.
According to Yahoo News today, this is nothing new, but something to keep an eye on as these new $100 bills are scheduled to be released on Oct. 8. Collectors want the low serial numbers such as a bill that has a serial number of 00000001, this would be the bill that will be highly sought after and could command a price tag of $15,000. Collectors are looking for bills with “fancy” numbers, such as ones that have consecutive numbers in their serial number like 12345678 or 87654321.
Collectors also look for the same number in a serial number like 55555555. The bills that have two sets of the same four digits are also highly sought after like 95789578. While not all these “fancy” numbered bills are worth $15,000, they can be worth much more than the face value of the bill.
This goes for bills already out there in any denomination, so it might be worth your while to acquaint yourself with serial numbers on the bills you come across. It can’t hurt to take a quick look to see if the sequence of the serial numbers would put that bill worth more than its face value. Do you have "fancy" money in your pockets?
