Nevada pot legalization: Pot to be legal in Sin City?

Is it really possible that Nevada pot legalization is on the horizon? That’s what many people are wondering about on Friday, March 15, especially in the wake of voters in other states heading to the polls to legalize the very controversial drug.

According to Assemblyman Joe Hogan, D-Las Vegas, a measure to have pot legalized in Nevada will be introduced in the Assembly on Friday. This would make pot the sixth state in the nation to decriminalize the use of marijuana.

"We've wasted a tremendous amount of money spoiling teen-agers lives, chasing them around until we can arrest them for something," Hogan said. "And marijuana is not just a harmless plant. The medical benefits are remarkable."

From Bill Maher to the everyday common man and woman, the biggest argument for legalizing pot is to stop the jailing of young people for what many believe to be is a fairly harmless crime. While certainly all studies and research may prove to be contradictory, it is widely believe that pot does not negatively affect your body or mind for the short or long-term.

Many will also argue that, because marijuana provides serious medical benefits for those that may need it (former TV host Montell Williams is on record saying he uses pot to help with his multiple sclerosi [MS]), that this is yet one more reason that Nevada pot legalization needs to go from a dream to a reality.

But what do you believe? Do you think Nevada she move forward and legalize marijuana? Voice your thoughts on the subject below.
