The Nevada delegations for both the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate were all sworn into office today, Jan. 3, 2013 which starts the new 113th Congress.
Rep. Steven Horsford (D), who will be representing Nevada’s new 4th congressional district, Rep. Dina Titus (D) representing the 1st congressional district, Rep. Joe Heck (R) representing the 3rd congressional district, and Rep. Mark Amodei (R) representing the 2nd congressional district, all took their oath of office in a mass swearing in ceremony for all 435 representatives. House Speaker John Boehner led the oath of office after being reelected as Speaker of the House.
Over in the U.S. Senate, Majority Leader Harry Reid (D) and Senator Dean Heller (R) were sworn-in by Vice President Joe Biden who is also the President of the U.S. Senate.
The new 113th congress, which looks a lot like the divided 112th congress, will have to learn to compromise with each other if there is any hope of moving America forward, and avoid the bottleneck that plagued the previous congress which put our economy in turmoil.
After House Speaker John Boehner told his caucus yesterday that he’s done with private, one-on-one negotiations with President Obama, it is hard to see any hope of Republicans and Democrats coming together for the good of our nation anytime soon.
