Why networking? Networking is no longer only for the unemployed. The reality of today’s economy is one of volatility where “stability” for professionals means having an up-to-date skill set and a strong network to help you land quickly when the next transition happens.

This week’s networking tip: Although you might not be headed to the golden globes, you can arrive with confidence and introduce yourself with a smile. Don’t fall into the trap of wondering what others are thinking of you or trying to think about what you are going to say. You’ve practiced your professional introduction and you know good questions to ask to keep the conversation going. Now, be confident and in the moment, listening to your conversation partner and making a connection.
