A deal is in place between Sony Pictures Television and Netflix for the subscription streaming service to make available the entire first season of the Breaking Bad prequel spinoff Better Call Saul immediately following the finale of its first season next year.
"Breaking Bad is widely recognized as one of the great TV experiences in this new golden age of television ... it has also proven very popular with Netflix subscribers around the world," said Ted Sarandos chief content officer for Netflix to Digital Spy. "This spinoff promises to continue its tradition of powerful storytelling."
As included in the netflix $8 a month regular subscription, this will be an attractive deal for viewers that don't feel the need to see each episode as it airs on AMC during its first run. Many new fans of Breaking Bad were first introduced to the Saul Goodman character (as portrayed by Bob Odenkirk) while playing catch-up on the series through Netflix.
As a part of this agreement Netflix will also have exclusive rights to show Better Call Saul in Europe and South America.
