Netflix announces second season premiere date for 'House of Cards'

Netflix has announced a premiere date for the second season of its original series “House of Cards.”

On Feb.14, 2014 all 13 episodes of the show can be seen on the DVD and streaming provider’s website.

The show is a political drama developed and produced by Beau Willimon. Season 2 will continue to follow South Carolina democrat Frank Underwood (Kevin Spacey) and his wife Claire (Robin Wright) on their revenge fueled rise to political power and the threats they face along the way, while reporter Zoe Barnes (Kate Mara) continues to get closer and closer to the truth of Underwood’s crimes.

Also returning to the show to continue their roles in the new season are Michael Gill, Gerald McRaney, Michael Kelly, Sakina Jaffrey, Kristen Connolly and Sebastian Arcelus. Newcomers to the drama include Jayne Atkinson from “The Following” and Derek Cecil from “Treme”.

This season, viewers can expect episodes directed by Jodie Foster, Carl Franklin, James Foley and John David Coles.

House of Cards”, which is based on the BBC miniseries of the same name, premiered on Netflix on Feb. 1, 2013 with 13 episodes. The show was a success garnering nine Emmy nominations. The show also won three awards, for casting, directing and cinematography.
