Assemblyman Brian Nestande will kick off his campaign for Congress on Sunday, Feb. 23 from 4 to 5 p.m. at his new headquarters in Palm Desert. Nestande is running for the 36th Congressional District seat currently held by Dr. Raul Ruiz.

Helping Nestande with his rally will be House Majority Whip Keven McCarthy (R-Bakersfield.) He is the third ranking member in House Republican leadership and has been a leader in California’s battle against the federally imposed drought.

“I look forward to joining Brian and his campaign volunteers in this important congressional campaign. Brian Nestande has a proven record in the State Legislature of keeping down the size and cost of government while providing our families with the services they deserve and pay for," said McCarthy.

“Brian will be a strong voice in Congress as we continue our fight to create jobs and grow the economy, while supporting our troops and our veterans. He will fight to undo the damage Obamacare has done to the doctor-patient relationship, and push for more water storage facilities so Californians aren’t victims to another drought,” McCarthy concluded.

Nestande is serving his third term in the California Assembly. Early on in his working life he served as chief of staff to both Sonny Bono and Mary Bono Mack. After that he founded a government affairs consulting business in the Palm Desert where he worked on issues ranging from alternative energy to health care.

“It’s an honor to have my friend and one of the nation’s top lawmakers right here in the 36th congressional district helping us kickoff the campaign season,” Nestande said about McCarthy in a statement issued today.

The Nestande for Congress campaign headquarters is located at 41905 Boardwalk, Suite B in Palm Desert. For directions and to RSVP, you call the campaign at 760.610.6060.
