Singer-songwriter Neon Hitch's “Gold” shines atop Billboard's Dance/Club Play chart this week. The music chart company refreshed its chart on Thursday with the synthpop jam, featuring rapper Tyga, occupying the No. 1 spot.
“#Gold is No.1!!! I put this on my vision board and here it is :) Thank u so much tribe!!” she wrote on Twitter about the good news.
“Gold” is Hitch's second consecutive visit to the top spot on Billboard's club chart. She originally hit No. 1 on the same chart last year in March with her naughty dance romp, “F-ck U Betta.” The Dance/Club Play chart is made up of “the week's most popular songs played in dance clubs, compiled from reports from a national sample of club DJs,” as per Billboard.com.
Hitch wrote “Gold” with Claude Kelly, Benny Blanco, Phillip Lawrence, and singer Bruno Mars. Over the dance track's glowing production, she sings about a sublime lover with the lines: “There's no light in this room / It's alright, we got you / You shine like gold.” Tyga later gets in on the action with some raps about the good life with his beaming girl. The enchanting song received an artsy lyric video back in August with Hitch delivering the song's words in a very innovative fashion.
Neon Hitch hit No. 12 on Billboard's Hot 100 singles chart last year with a feature spot on Gym Class Heroes' “A-s Back Home.” Her debut album, tentatively titled “Beg, Borrow, and Steal,” is due for release later this year.
