Nene Leakes made a guest appearance at Rock The Runway SF yesterday which raised much-needed funds for San Francisco based charity organization Lifting Up Lives. The fashion-focused event held at The Clift Hotel in downtown San Francisco also featured live performances from Nesta Rae and iconic singer Kim Hill. Nene Leakes gave a heartfelt speech before the runway began and took time to speak with event guests.
“I was in an abusive relationship for years and it was hard to get out.” Nene Leakes spoke with event guests about her experience as a victim in an abusive relationship. “As strong as I am, it was hard to get out. But now, I have come out stronger.”
Lifting Up Lives, the charity organization which benefitted from Rock The Runway SF, empowers women who have escaped abuse through exercise and support which makes a significant, positive impact on their lives. Nene Leakes, having been a victim of abuse herself, was truly an inspiration for the women in the room who have suffered from abuse.
In addition to Nene Leakes speech and live performances from Kim Hill and Nesta Rae, guests of Rock The Runway SF were treated to an energetic fashion show from local San Francisco Bay Area designers, a gourmet brunch and silent auction.
