NeNe Leakes hints she'll return to 'RHOA' as friend of the housewives

NeNe Leakes has spoken out about her future on "The Real Housewives of Atlanta" and her response indicates that viewers will indeed see her for at least one more season. They just won't see her as much. As reported by the NY Daily News on Monday, May 19, NeNe talked about whether she's going or staying while representing the show at the NBCUniversal ad upfronts last Thursday.

Days after reports came out that NeNe has been fired from the show, she showed up at the NBCUniversal upfronts, a big event that previewed the next season's lineup for advertisers. As NBCUniversal owns Bravo, a few housewives selected by Bravo to represent their shows attended. Representing the Atlanta housewives were NeNe and Kandi Burruss. However, NeNe's presence at the big event doesn't mean that she'll continue being the queen bee of the Atlanta housewives.

When asked about her future on the show, NeNe replied that she's not sure if she wants to continue doing what she has been doing for years. “I’m happy to do some things. I don’t know if I’m happy to be a full-time housewife," she said. NeNe's response, which made sure to specify "full-time housewife," is the strongest indication yet that NeNe will come back only as a part-time housewife, or what is known as a "friend of the housewives."

As for the reason why she wants to step back, NeNe said that all of the show's negativity is spilling into her personal life. She lamented that being on the show with her co-stars is "very tough." NeNe in particular probably hates filming with Kenya Moore, with whom she has fought with all last season both on and off the show through social media.

A little more than a week ago, a blog reported that NeNe Leakes' contract to be a starring housewife on season seven of "The Real Housewives of Atlanta" has not been renewed. Instead, NeNe, along with Porsha Stewart, may be coming back only as recurring housewives. NeNe herself seemed to confirm that she won't be coming back to the show in the same capacity by tweeting that people should never continue in a job that they don't enjoy. It seems that NeNe enjoys her "Real Housewives" job enough to stick around but not enough to really get involved.
