Nemours is Orlando’s double duty nonprofit

Nemours Children’s Hospital in Orlando is one of the nation’s finest pediatric hospitals dedicated to giving children and their families the care and counseling they need, no matter their income. Besides medical care, the opening of the hospital in October of last year led to hundreds of jobs being brought to the Orlando/Lake Nona area, making it Orlando’s double duty nonprofit organization.

The building of the hospital started in 2009; just three years later, almost 600 jobs were posted on their employment site. Job openings varied from nurses to lab technicians to patient services coordinators and many more, proving that Nemours isn’t just caring for a child’s body and well-being but is caring for their families, too.

Patients and families staying at this pediatric hospital have countless amenities in place for them, including family lounges, a café, an on-site pharmacy, a one-acre garden and rooftop green spaces. Nemours also provides free of charge concierge services which assist families in finding hotels, attractions, transportation and more.

With the wide range and variety of job opportunities, Nemours employs more than just the top doctors in America. Currently, there are around 60 job openings posted on Nemours career section for Orlando.

Whether a person’s specialty is in medicine or customer service, pending they meet Nemours high standards for employees, they might have a chance to work for one of Orlando’s best nonprofit organizations.

Nemours Children’s Hospital is devoted to making sure the everyday experiences for children and families at the hospital are as comfortable as they can possibly be. There are no strict visiting hours for parents or legal guardians of children staying at Nemours.

Since Nemours considers families an integral part of the care team, there are accommodations in place in order for parents to stay with their children all day and night if they’d prefer.

This nonprofit has gone a step further and has implemented a Family Advisory Council for the purpose of gaining ideas and points of view from parents. They give their opinions on new services and hospital policies, and in order to empower families that much more, they can even be a part of the hiring process.

Along with the Family Advisory Council, Nemours has a Children Advisory Council (ages 8-11) and a Teen Advisory Council (ages 13-17) put in place to make sure all aspects of patient and family satisfaction are being addressed.

If the services and amenities provided to children and their families weren’t enough, they also have created the website KidsHealth.org in order to provide easy-to-understand and engaging content intended to assist patients and their families get information on children’s health. The website can be viewed in English and Spanish.
