According to CBS TV, the great world leader was like no other. He had a twinkle in his eye. He wore the mantle of responsibility with pride. He became known as the towering man of the 20th century.
Indeed, with all those monikers earned, Mandel lives on in the world's mind after his passing for his great work, for ultimately winning his fight to bring apartheid to a positive end and for never letting his country down in any way. In fact, quite the opposite.
And so, as the world mourns this global champion, memorable quotes he uttered show what the Nelson Mandela ideology was all about.
Case in point. He once said, "A good head and a good heart are always a formidable combination." A description that matches the man who said this.
The former President of South Africa also noted in the past, "I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear."
Meanwhile, Nelson Mandela, who is said to have passed on peacefully on Thurs., once said, "If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his language, that goes to his heart."
Another notable quote from Mandela is this one: "It always seems impossible until its done."
So is the one in which he proclaimed with his inimitable humor, "In my country we go to prison first and then become President."
In addition, Nelson Mandela said, "I detest racialism, because I regard it as a barbaric thing, whether it comes from a black man or a white man."
He also confessed, "There is nothing like returning to a place that remains unchanged to find the ways in which you yourself have altered."
And, with his philosophy of life in mind, Mandela contended, "After climbing a great hill, one only finds that there are many more hills to climb."
Finally, the late Nelson Mandela once talked of his hopes for the future, saying, "I dream of an Africa which is in peace with itself."
Nelson Mandela is dead at the age of 95.
RIP, Nelson Mandela, RIP.
