Nelson Mandela has died at the age of 95. While the former South African president had been rumored to have passed multiple times before, his death now has been confirmed by South African President Zuma. The Telegraph shared the details on Dec. 5.
Mandela has been frail and in quite poor health for some time, especially after spending about three months in the hospital over the summer with a lung infection. He had been believed to have been close to death more than once this year, but this time he has legitimately passed away.
Reports indicate that many of Mandela's family members gathered at his home Wednesday night to say their goodbyes. While some around the home noticed the increased activity, the family did not share any details as they gathered. Many suspected that perhaps the time has come.
While Mandela is a controversial figure, he has long been the face of ending apartheid in South Africa and he is revered by many. The world now mourns Nelson Mandela's death at the age of 95 years old.
