Nelson Mandela has died -- it's not a hoax this time. The former president of South Africa has had several health problems over the past couple of years and while many of his issues were "covered up," it was clear to many that his health had deteriorated. On Dec. 5, CNN confirmed the news that the former S. African president passed away at age 95.
Many people were led to believe that Mandela's health was improving and that he was just in and out of the hospital for "routine tests." However, his age coupled with his previous health problems (lung damage) had some people questioning just how long he would be able to hang on.
Nelson Mandela died about six months after news about his deteriorating condition broke around the globe. A lot of people were surprised by the today's news because not many updates about Mandela's health were released since June. Others sort of knew that Mandela's days left on earth were numbered -- but he lived a brave life and fought a brave fight.
Mandela leaves behind five children. It is unknown how much of his empire will go to his children because -- as previously reported -- Mandela recently changed his will. The important thing is that his after-life wishes are carried out as he wanted them to be.
Nelson Mandela died leaving behind a great legacy. People around the globe grew to love him and this is a very sad day for so many.
