Nelson Mandela condolence books are available in Chicago for persons who want to pay their respects to the former South African president, according to an ABC report on Friday.
The consulate in Chicago is offering two books for signing. One is located at the Consul General’s Office, located at 200 South Michigan Avenue. The hours one may sign the book at that location is 11:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Monday through Friday next week. The other location is the Harold Washington Library which is located at 400 South State Street. The hours one may sign there is 10:00 a.m. through 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, 1:00 p.m. through 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, and 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The South African Consulate in Chicago will announce plans for a Nelson Mandela memorial event by Tuesday.
Mandela is to be mourned in South Africa - and throughout the world - for ten days before having a state funeral on Dec. 15, 2013. He died Thursday at the age of 95 at his home following a long illness with his family at his side.
