Tributes are taking place worldwide in honor of former South African President Nelson Mandela's life and contributions. The NAACP and local Detroit leaders are following pursuit with their own celebration of the widely loved and respected leader.

"DETROIT CELEBRATES THE LIFE OF NELSON MANDELA
Special Detroit Tribute to Madiba
DETROIT -- On Sunday, December 15, 2013 from 3:00 to 5:00 P.M. a celebratory program will be held at the Music Hall Center for the Performing Arts, located at 350 Madison in Detroit for a special tribute to honor the life and legacy of Nelson Mandela. The event is free and open to the public. The doors at the Music Hall are scheduled to open 90 minutes before the Mandela Celebration. The tribute will take place between 3-5 p.m. Sunday.
The Music Hall venue seats approximately 1,700 people. It has been reported that free tickets will be provided to the public through the TicketMaster’s website and it's outlets on Wednesday at 12 noon. The Music Hall’s box office will also have tickets available for those who wish to attend, but remember space is limited.
