Neil Young has intrigued fans by posting a pair of audio tracks of unknown origin on his official website.
An article posted today (1/28/12) by UltimateClassicRock.com, reports that the legendary Canuck singer-songwriter is streaming the 2 tracks as part of 38-minute long audio medley posted to the mainpage of his official website.
No content information whatsoever has been posted with the audio stream, which contains a long instrumental jam of “F*ckin’ Up,” a version of the track from the 1990 Young/Crazy Horse album Ragged Glory, that morphs into a version of “Cortez the Killer,” featuring the unmistakable voice of Neil Young singing lead vocals.
The accompanying video footage slowly pans over the vintage recording equipment through which the tape is being played. The mixing board clear displays “Neil vocals” taped across it.
The camera also scans over vintage guitars, lyric sheets and various retro-techno gadgetry.
The posting comes hot on the heels of the “Heart of Gold” hitmaker’s appearance at the Slamdance Film Festival last weekend to promote Journeys, his latest film collaboration with director Jonathan Demme, at which the Grammy Award winner revealed that he has been recording with Crazy Horse once again.
Young did not provide details about album content, nor was any timeline given as to when the next Crazy Horse collaboration might be released.
Did you know? Crazy Horse is a Los Angeles, CA based band, who started working with Neil Young in the 60s, beginning with his 2nd solo effort, the 1969 classic Everybody Knows This is Nowhere (credited as “Neil Young with Crazy Horse"). They have not teamed up since 2003’s Greendale.
