Neil Young hits the road in 2014 with a classic era solo acoustic set

Neil Young fans in Canada could well be in for a dream setlist from the legendary Canuck singer-songwriter, when he returns home for four solo benefit gigs later this month, judging from the setlist and critic reaction to the first of a four night stand, performed Jan. 6 at New York's Carnegie Hall.

The headline declaring "Neil Young stuns" posted in a concert review on Jan. 7 at RollingStone.com, succinctly describes the notoriously unpredictable multi-Grammy winner's two hour and twenty minute marathon, which focused almost exclusively on his golden era from 1966 - 1978.

Young, whose artistic temperament rarely allows him to trade in nostalgia or indulge fans by performing greatest hits, did just that in New York, performing over half the songs on his 1972 multi-platinum smash album "Harvest," including: "Heart of Gold," Old Man," "The Needle and the Damage Done" and "Harvest", as well as hits such as "Ohio," "Only Love Can Break Your Heart," "Comes a Time," "Long May You Run" and his first performance of fan favourite "Southern Man" in nearly a decade.

Young continues his solo run tonight through Jan. 10 at Carnegie Hall's Stern Auditorium in New York, N.Y.

His Canadian AFCN solo benefit concert series with guest Diana Krall kicks off Jan. 12 in Toronto, ON at Massey Hall and wraps up Jan. 19 Calgary, AB - Jack Singer Concert Hall.
