Neil Patrick Harris vs John Barrowman for Gay Man of the Decade - everyone wins

AfterElton, a website that follows bisexual and gay men in entertainment, put a poll on their website to choose the gay/bisexual man of the decade.  The list included Neil Patrick Harris, John Barrowman, T.R. Knight, Cheyenne Jackson, Patrik-Ian Polk, Sir Elton John, Sir Ian McKellen, Lance Bass, David Hyde Pierce, Dustin Lance Black, George Takei and the option of choosing Adam Lambert and other out young gay men.

NPH and John Barrowman quickly moved to the top of the list and the stars, and their friends, hit Twitter to get some votes.  It started with NPH (ActuallyNPH on Twitter) saying "If you're feeling it, throw a vote my way.  Being atop John Barrowman would be a great way to start the decade..."

John Barrowman quickly started a Twitter campaign of his own (Team_Barrowman on Twitter).  "Sorry, Neil, I won't go down without a fight.GIVE YOUR VOTE FOR TOP MAN BARROWMAN........ jb"

With the battle heating up, friends of NPH and John Barrowman joined the Twitter-palooza.  Jonathan Ross, a talk show host from Great Britain with about 500k followers threw his support behind Barrowman.  Then, Dr. Horrible co-stars Nate Fillion (NathanFillion) and Felicia Day (FeliciaDay) added their support to the NPH ranks.  Alyssa Milano (Alyssa_Milano) wasn't far behind with her support for NPH.

Then the fun really got started.   The SyFy Channel joined the fray and officially backed George Takei.  They also sent a link to the poll on their Twitter account (SyFy) saying "Captain Jack Harkness fights Doctor Horrible for the Gay Man crown."

Author Neil Gaiman (neilhimself) enlisted his followers to support John Barrowman.  Allison Hannigan (alydenisof), NPH's co-star on How I Met Your Mother, asked her 71,000 followers to vote.

The whole thing has turned into a #biggaybattle on Twitter.
