Tonight CBS airs the61st Emmy awards,they will be broadcast live from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. This year the event will be hosted by actor Neil Patrick Harris. He is the star of “How I Met Your Mother”.
Harris received his first Emmy nomination for his role on hit show Doogie Howser MD, and film Clara’s Heart at age 15. Later he seemed to have disappeared from the Hollywood scene until he was cast in his new role as womanizer 'Barney Stinson” on “How I Met Your Mother”. This role has earned him an Emmy nomination this year.
No stranger to hosting Harris already has a successful Tony Awards show under his belt . Fans love his irreverent comic style, and ability to make fun of himself . He showcased those skills famously when he played an over the top version of himself in the “Harold and Kumar” comedy series.
Many fans may not know about Harris’s hidden talent as a magician. Harris won the Tannen's Magic Louis Award in 2006 and hosted the 2008 World Magic Awards on October 11, 2008.
So don’t be surprised if he pulls a "rabbit out of a hat", or makes a "speech crasher" like Kanye West disappear.
Harris: " I plan on taking home a couple of Emmy’s myself, so that should be memorable. It doesn’t matter if I win or lose — I’m backstage a lot, and so are the trophies. I think I can cop three or four without anyone noticing.”
