Neil Patrick Harris did an amazing job, hosting the 2009 Emmys Sunday night. As soon as he touched the stage, he set a great pace for the entire evening. Wearing a classic white and black tux, NPH was classic Rat Pack cool. Harris opened the show with a great song called “Put Down the Remote” that helped the audience realize how many actual channels are on Television now days.
Harris was very relevant in his opening monologue referencing the recent VMA’s incident within 3 minutes when he said "All right, it's my job to keep things moving tonight. I'm here to ensure everything runs smoothly. Here's hoping Kanye West likes '30 Rock.' ". His humor throughout the night was “sharp but never insulting”, as Mary McNamara Television Critic of the LA times wrote in her review of the Emmys.
NPH had lots of laughs when after losing to Jon Cryer, for best supporting actor in a comedy series, Harris stated “the night could have gone in two directions, we are now in the second direction” Many jokes during the show were at Cryer’s expense, but all in good fun. One of the best moments of the night was when Harris recreated his role as Dr. Horrible and did a funny skit about the fear of the Internet taken the place of television.
Harris received a lot of love from many of the winners. "Neil Patrick Harris, this is how you host the Emmys. Nice job!" said " Jeff Probst the host of the reality show Survivor after receiving an Emmy for best reality host. Former Emmy host Jon Stewart even stopped mid acceptance speech to thank Harris for doing such a great job as host. Stewart along with his writers won the Emmy for best Varity show.
The rest of the HIMYM cast looked amazing presenting the award for outstanding writing in a comedy series. Unfortunately HIMYM did not win the prize of best comedy series, losing to 30 Rock.

The show was great last night Neil Patrick Harris did his thing. I am sorry to see that HIMYM did not win, the show deserve the win, but there is always next year. As always great article, and like every Monday night I will be tuned in for the new season premier tonight!

Unfortunatly I didnt tune in to all of the Emmys, I did however catch his opening song and im upset that HIMYM didnt get that Emmy win...oh and I got the visual of the white pants and black jacket and.....o_O lol
I didnt catch the entire Emmy broadcast i did catch Neils song it wwas well done, and its a shame HIMYM didnt get that win, now as far as the white pants and black blazer.....o_O
