Young bikes take to the streets for a morning of skills training, bike decorating and socializing.
Local businesses, biking organizations and neighbors filled the 1500 block of Grove and Lyon on Sunday in the North of Panhandle neighborhood for "Bike the Block."
Three hours of biking and walking fun included:
- kids' skills course
- bike decorating and drawing
- rides on a seven-person "funcycle" with Dan the DJ
- free bike service station
- biking demos and "show and tell"
Some neighbors took advantage of the having the neighbors localize by hosting garage sales. Many walked back and forth between the weekly farmers' market one block away on Grove and Divisadero. NOPA Neighborhood Association, Pacific Primary, Y-Bike, SF Bicycle Coalition and Bike NOPA sponsored the event.
