Yesterday, you were introduced to the recently released Rugged Cargo Short by Carhartt. Today, we’re taking a look at their new Tacoma Ripstop Short. Carhartt, it appears, is on a roll, and you should be paying attention. Combining the bullet-proof construction of their duck work wear with lighter, more versatile fabrics, these new products could, and should, be game-changers for the 124-year-old company.
Carhartt has been incrementally introducing lighter, but still very tough fabrics to their venerable line of work wear. Back in 2009, I predicted that their Ripstop Pant was sure to become one of my favorites. That prediction came true, and four years later those lightweight, and incredibly durable pants are still going strong and still the pants I reach for when, for some reason, I am not wearing shorts.
Made from 7-ounce, 100% cotton ripstop fabric, the new Tacoma Ripstop Short is poised to make history repeat itself. Thanks to a relaxed fit through the seat and thigh and a uniquely gusseted crotch, these new shorts are about as comfortable as clothing can be. Adding a bunch of genuinely useful features to that perfect fit just makes things better.
- Discreetly tucked away on the right side of these shorts is a convenient cell phone pocket that is easily big enough to accommodate the latest phablet
- Up front, between the riveted anchor points of the pocket openings, Carhartt has wisely added a double layer of extra material to make sure this wear-prone area never wears out
- Out back, two low-profile tab pockets with hidden snap flaps keep the contents of your pockets IN your pockets
If you are looking for some shorts that are as good looking as they are tough, look no further. The Tacoma Ripstop Short is, of course, available over at the Carhartt website. However, if you are yearning for a little brick and mortar with your retail experience, you can always visit one of these Bay Area Carhartt retailers:
