A couple months ago, you had the distinct pleasure of learning about the New Era Cap Company and one of its MLB 1934 Heritage Collection 19TWENTY Caps. This time around, instead of reaching way back, New Era has brought back a snippet of the 90s. This time you need to know about the MLB Spike Lee Leather Exclusive 59FIFTY fitted cap.

This cap is a collaboration of two pop culture giants: celebrated filmmaker Spike Lee and the legendary hat maker New Era Cap. This exclusive red leather cap originally came about in the 90s when Lee, a die-hard New York Yankees fan, hit up New Era CEO Chris Koch at New Era to see if he could get a Yankee cap in Scarlet, an unthinkable request at the time. After acquiring the proper permissions, New Era presented Lee with his new non-Navy Yankees cap. When Lee donned this cap at the 1996 World Series in Atlanta, Georgia, fashion history was made

This red leather hat features a raised, embroidered New York Yankees team logo up front, Major League Baseball logo embroidered on the rear, 1996 World Series emblem on the right side and New Era’s flag on the left. On the inside, the sweatband is emblazoned with “A Spike Lee Joint,” New Era branded taping, and a special red satin lining featuring Spike Lee’s autograph. Whether you are a fan of the Yankees, Spike Lee or just pop culture, in general, this is a seriously sweet hat to behold.

This Spike Lee Joint is available in Scarlet, Navy, and White leather for $99.99, or Navy and Scarlet wool for $39.99.
