Last month, the name Lenmar meant nothing to me. This month, I find myself rather intrigued by their existence. Despite the fact that this company has been around since 1965, it was off my radar until very recently, and I’d imagine it’s safe to assume it was likely off yours as well. According to their website:
“Lenmar provides over 1,200 power related specialty batteries, portable battery chargers, and external portable energy to the consumer electronics, information technology and industrial tools markets. We inventory and deliver complete power solutions for mobile & cordless phones; notebook and tablet computers; digital cameras & camcorders; MP3 players; video games, barcode scanners, power tools, general purpose and other categories.”
They also make a nifty little Bluetooth speaker that has a combination of features I’ve not seen on any other device in its market segment. Inside the sleek and compact enclosure, you’ll find two 3 watt speakers, a removeable (read: replaceable) 900mAh lithium polymer battery, and a tiny microphone so it can do double duty as a speakerphone. If that’s not enough, the Miniboom is controlled by a slick and subtle touchscreen which gives this unit a particularly upscale look and feel.
If first impressions are anything to go by, I think this little music mate and speakerphone combo is going to end up somewhere near the top of the heap of my collection of Bluetooth wireless speakers. It’s great size, unique features and polished good looks are all likely indicators of a well-made, thoughtfully designed product. Only time will tell, though. Check back in soon for the full review.
