Within the very limited world of men’s clothing, seizing the opportunity to add a new look or expand upon an existing theme is important. There’s only so many shirts, pants, shoes, and socks to choose from, so discovering that something you’ve been avoiding for most of your life suddenly suits you is a big deal. That is why there’s been a bit of polo shirt evangelizing in this column lately.
Apparently, even within a given brand, there is a plethora of shapes, styles and feature combinations from which to choose, so finding the right shirt can be a bit daunting. Carhartt, on the other hand, makes it quite easy. Currently, they have two choices: Contractor’s Work Pocket Blended Pique Polo & Flame Resistant Force Cotton Long Sleeve Polo, so the choice is pretty simple. Today we look at the Contractor’s Work Pocket Blended Pique Polo.
This short sleeve shirt is a classic polo shape, but it is filled with the sort of handy features you’d expect from a company like Carhartt. The left chest pocket comes in handy and should be a part of any shirt, but especially a shirt made for work. To make the pocket even handier, Carhartt has incorporated what they call a silo. This pocket within a pocket is great for holding pens or small tools in place while you keep on keepin’ on.
In addition to the rib-knit polo collar and three button placket, this shirt features a square bottom with side vents and open, non-banded sleeves. It is cut from a 5.5 ounce pique weave consisting of 65% polyester, 34% cotton, and it is treated with a stain release finish. This shirt looks sharp, and since it’s a Carhartt, you know it is built to last, too.
