It is time for another beard care series. It’s been a little over a year since the last one went live, and in that time the market has kind of taken off. This time around, we’ll be getting into a whole new batch of beard oils and balms, as well as brushes, combs, beard washes, shaving oil, and mustache wax.
First up, 1740 Beard Balm, one of the sponsors of the ever popular pool parties at the fuzzy and festive Lazy Bear in Guerneville, California, which is happening this weekend, has sent along a couple beard balms and a fine looking wooden comb to kick off this series. All of the 1740 products are 100% natural, made in America by hand, and they’ve done a very good job at keeping their prices down. All of their products sell for less than just about everything else out there.
The Products (to be tested)
Beard Balm - Handmade in Independence, Missouri, this is your basic beard balm. It contains Beeswax, Coconut Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, and Peppermint Essential Oil to help tame those wiry whiskers.
Death Wish Coffee Infused Beard Balm - As far as I can tell, this is the only coffee infused beard balm on the market right now. The Sweet Almond and Coconut oils are infused with coffee then mixed with the Beeswax to make for a black coffee fragrance that is unmistakable. It is reported that caffeine is supposed to be good for the skin (unless you have Rosacea).
Wooden Comb - Designed to prevent pulling out and breaking that delicate man fuzz, while being persuasive enough to push the beard around. Each comb is branded with a 1740 on it for ten bucks, or you can get one custom branded for fifteen more. The comb features both skinny and wide teeth.
