'Need for Speed' video game comes to theaters in 2014

Touchstone Pictures and director Scott Waugh brings “Need for Speed” to theaters in 2014. “Need for Speed” will be based on the Electronic Arts video game of the same name.

An underground racecar driver owns a garage where he modifies cars to create better and faster racing vehicles. He was framed and sent to prison after his best friend was murdered during a race and now he’s out for revenge when he’s done doing time for a crime he didn’t commit.

“Fright Night’s” Imogen Poots takes on a role of a savvy exotic car dealer who connects the high-end clients with the high-end race cars.

DreamWorks had this to say about the “Need for Speed”:

It will be rooted in the tradition of the great car-culture films of the 70s while being extremely faithful to the spirit of the video game franchise.

Penned by George Gatins, “Need for Speed” will be distributed by Touchstone Pictures and produced by DreamWorks Studios.
