EA and Criterion games announced today that the struggling Wii U system will be getting a much needed boost this spring in the form of their latest street-racer, Need For Speed: Most Wanted.
Need For Speed: Most Wanted is already out on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PS Vita systems and has, for the most part, sold as well as anyone would have expected. The game challenges players with becoming the city's most wanted street racer, vying against the top ten for their spot on the list. Players have less control over the specifics of car modifications than in previous titles, instead getting new car via "jack spots", where slick new cars are precariously parked and waiting for you to snag them. The game also features a robust, open-world design, where players are connected to other racers on Xbox Live and PSN and able to challenge them to individual races wherever and whenever they see fit.
The Wii U's GamePad controller affords the title some new and exclusive luxuries. In Co-Driver mode, drivers control the vehicle with either the Wii Remote or Wii U Pro Controller while their passenger utilizes the Wii U GamePad to access a fully interactive, real-time map for assistance, navigation, or fun tweaks to make the drive easier or more challenging for the driver. At the flick of a finger, passengers can distract pursuing police officers, switch from night to day, or even increase the amount of traffic on the road.
Players who opt to play solo with the GamePad are able to adjust modifications and access a mini-map on the fly using the touch screen. Best of all, the entire game is playable on the GamePad with the push of a button, freeing up the TV in what many regard as Wii U's biggest advantage.
The Wii U version will also come pre-loaded with the Ultimate Speed Pack, giving players five of the most irresponsibly fast cars on the planet: McLaren's F1 LM, Lamborghini's Aventador J, the Pagani Zonda R, Bugatti's Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse and Hennessey's Venom GT Spyder.
The Wii U version will drop March 19th. Preorder your copy now at Best Buy here in Manchester.
