Need a surf buddy? Water-loving, well-mannered Airedale/Lab mix awaits you

San Diego County is surfer heaven, even for dogs. Dozens of pooches and their people proved it at last weekend’s Surf Dog Surf-A-Thon in Del Mar, organized by Helen Woodward Animal Center.

If you want to start training for next year’s event, you can’t go wrong with a partner like Brooke, a young Airedale/Lab mix who loves the water. Apparently it’s in her genes on both sides. Everyone knows that Labrador retrievers are water fans, but it’s a lesser-recognized fact that Airedales also are greatly fond of romping in the H20.  So Brooke is blessed with a double dose of hydrophilia.

Here’s how her rescuers at Friends of County Animal Shelters (FOCAS) describe this three-year-old, 57-pound beauty:

“Brooke is an incredible dog with a great temperament, loving personality and great house manners. Now just add sweet, friendly, and fun and you have the whole picture.

“Brooke’s friendly nature is a plus on walks and she enjoys meeting adults, children and dogs. Brooke is very smart; she knows the commands for “sit” and “down” and is ready to learn more.

“She has her silly side and will do anything for a belly rub and enjoys tossing her toys into the air. Brooke also loves the water.

“If you are interested in opening up your heart and home to Brooke, please call Kathy at 858.205.9974 for more information.”
