Nebraska’s defensive line took a hit when they learned that Kevin Williams was lost for the season due to a knee injury. On Sunday, August 18, the Cornhuskers announced that Williams would be gone for the remainder of the season. This was one of the positions that Nebraska could afford to lose the least. Unfortunately for Kevin Williams, this is his second knee injury since enrolling in Nebraska in 2011.
Nebraska lost many players from the defensive front last year, and CBSsports.com noted that Thad Randle is the only player with experience on Nebraska’s interior. Now some of the young guys definitely have to step up and become impact players early.
Nebraska begins their season August 31, against Wyoming. As one of the Co-favorites to earn a trip to the Big 10 title game, Nebraska must tighten up against the run, and they would do great to improve upon the defensive front.
