According to CBSsportsline.com, Nebraska was scheduled to play the University of Tennessee but the Volunteers wanted some “scheduling relief” from playing Nebraska in the future seasons. Instead, the Volunteers pushed those game dates back to 2026 and 2027. That gave the Cornhuskers room for another high quality opponent.
In recent seasons, Nebraska has played a couple of PAC 12 teams with mixed results. In 2010, the Huskers split with Washington in the same season. After putting up 56 points in a 35 point victory, Nebraska lost to the Huskies 19-7 in the Holiday Bowl. In 2011, Nebraska returned the favor with a win over the same Huskies.
In 2012-13, Nebraska lost both games of a two game series with the UCLA Bruins.
CBSsportsline.com also announced the dates of the future games with Oregon. The Ducks come to Lincoln on Sept. 17, 2016 and Nebraska visits Autzen Stadium on Sept. 9, 2017.
The college football world can change fast, but Oregon is currently ranked second in the nation and second offensively. Oregon averages more than 630 yards per game.
