The NEA, the AFT, and Keith Ellison want criminals to have an equal opportunity to molest children. A bill has been passed by the House to require background checks on all school employees. It could have a difficult time in the senate because of all the democrats who depend on huge contributions from teacher's unions to run for reelection.
Once someone becomes a teacher, especially if they achieve tenure, it becomes nearly impossible to get rid of them for any reason. A teacher in the Bronx, NY molested a 10 year old three times but was allowed to cntinue teaching, while a long and arduous procedure to remove him was in progress.
And who can forget the case in Michigan, where a teacher performed oral sex on a boy 10 times. 8 former and present teachers aas well as one school board member wrote letters to the judge, asking that he be set free.
Now the NEA, AFT, and Ellison are trying to inject race into the equation. They claim that because many blacks go to prison, background checks are discriminatory.
There should be no more doubt in anyone's mind that teacher's unions could care less about your kids.
