Sexton is most recognized as the agent who has secured major deals for college coaches like Alabama's Nick Saban, Florida State's Jimbo Fisher and Auburn's Gus Malzahn, but he also has NFL clients like Chargers' quarterback Philip Rivers and Cowboys' defensive end DeMarcus Ware.

Equally attractive to Suh is Sexton works for Creative Artist Agency (CAA). CAA is a ginormous talent agency based in Los Angeles that represents major stars like George Clooney and Tom Cruise. Agents in their television media division have Kirk Herbstreit, Chris Mortensen, Jim Rome and Michael Wilbon as clients.

Sexton can prepare for the Suh deal by comparing notes with CAA sports agents Tom Condon and Ben Dogra. Condon represents the two Manning brothers, Tony Romo and Drew Brees. Dogra's client list includes San Francisco 49er linebacker Patrick Willis.and Washington quarterback RGIII (Robert Griffin III).

What may make Lions management uneasy is their experience negoitating a contract extension with starting quarterback Matthew Stafford and CAA's Condon last year. A deal was not signed until July.

Knowing that the qiuck signing of Suh to a contract extension will provide more cap room for the Lions, will Sexton leverage Detroit's need for more talent into a lucrative contract for his new client?

It is all part of the sports entertainment business, so stay tuned.
